In an effort to expand the aviation network and to provide easy access, as well as to support the increasing tourist visit to the eastern corner of Indonesia, the national carrier Garuda Indonesia on March 10, 2018 is going to serve the Jakarta-Sorong return flight.
Director of Marketing & IT at Garuda Indonesia Nina Sulistyowati said the Jakarta-Sorong return flight will be serviced daily by Boeing 737-800NG aircraft with 162 seats. The Jakarta-Sorong flight complements previously serve Makassar-Sorong, Manado-Sorong and Ambon-Sorong flight routes.
“The Jakarta-Sorong return flight will be serviced once a day using a B737-800NG type aircraft with a capacity of 162 seats (12 seats of business class and 150 of economy class),” Nina said in a press release on Sunday (3/4/2018).
According to Nina, with the service of Jakarta-Sorong return flight it certainly will make it easier for both foreign countries and domestic tourists to be able to reach directly the maritime tourism area Raja Ampat which is already very famous in the world.
“Sorong City is the sixth city in Papua Province that we serve after Biak, Jayapura, Timika, Merauke and Manokwari. We hope that with the choice of routes to various cities in Papua it will further stimulate and improve the local economy,” explained Nina.
In addition to Raja Ampat tourism object, geographically the city of Sorong is very strategic because it is the largest city in West Papua region and also an industrial and trading city.
